Hanging By a Thread

I have several very close friends who are going through some trying times right now. They aren’t over-reacting or being dramatic. Their lives truly are in crisis. My heart hurts for them. There is no way I can humanly help the situations other than to be there when I’m needed and PRAY.

Who knows that prayer is our Instant Messenger to Jesus? Because of His sacrifice for us, we have seven-day-a-week, 24-hour-a-day access to Him.

Does it feel like you are hanging on by a thread? Are you grasping and clawing at whatever you can to keep things together? As long as it is the thread of Jesus’ garment you are clinging to, as long as it is His robe you are grasping, you will make it!

Look at this story:

Luke 8:43-48 (ESV)

43 And there was a woman who had had a discharge of blood for twelve years, and though she had spent all her living on physicians, she could not be healed by anyone. 44 She came up behind him and touched the fringe of his garment, and immediately her discharge of blood ceased. 45 And Jesus said, “Who was it that touched me?” When all denied it, Peter said, “Master, the crowds surround you and are pressing in on you!” 46 But Jesus said, “Someone touched me, for I perceive that power has gone out from me.” 47 And when the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling, and falling down before him declared in the presence of all the people why she had touched him, and how she had been immediately healed. 48 And he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace.”

The key here is that all she did was touch Jesus’ clothing…not Him, not His foot, not His hand…He didn’t look at her, He didn’t talk to her. She simply touched His clothing and was healed.

The wonderful news is, Jesus is in Heaven and He sees us! He knows our troubles, our heartaches, our worries. He knows. Reach out to Him.

Do you have the strength to reach far enough to touch the hem of His garment? He desires to touch you. He’s waiting.
