Restless. Unsettled. Uneasy. Troubled.
These are words that I have been hearing lately. Words from friends. Words from family. Words from my own heart.
What does it mean? That’s the question, right? Is something coming? Is there going to be a change? Am I being prepared for something? Am I just stressed? Is it all in my head? I wish I knew. I wish I could answer these questions for my friends and family. I wish I had the answer for myself.
Today I spoke with a friend who was given her answer. She, too, had been dealing with a restless spirit. Through prayer and an obedient heart, she was given the direction she desired. It was in an unlikely place at an unlikely time, but it was CLEAR.
I think sometimes we can make ourselves restless by worrying and fretting and by trying to control our own destiny.
But, sometimes, I think God places or allows that restlessness so that we begin to seek Him as He prepares our hearts and minds for a new journey. We need wisdom in finding and following God’s plan for our lives. And that kind of wisdom comes only through the guidance of the Holy Spirit through God’s Word and prayer.
If you are feeling restless, first test yourself. If it is because of self-inflicted worry, lay that at God’s feet. Worry is not healthy and takes your focus off the Lord. If you find your spirit is unsettled, spend time in the Word and in prayer. Perhaps God is getting you ready for something new. Something you could never have imagined.
But when He, the Spirit of Truth (the Truth-giving Spirit) comes, He will guide you into all the Truth (the whole, full Truth). For He will not speak His own message [on His own authority]; but He will tell whatever He hears [from the Father; He will give the message that has been given to Him], and He will announce and declare to you the things that are to come [that will happen in the future].- John 16:13 AMP
